Too many photos
I think I may be taking too many photos. I’m getting a little bored of it now. It’s a little OCD, too. Maybe I’m just trying to convince myself that progress is happening with all these photos. It often feels like nothing is getting done.
Anyway, let’s just recap some big stuff.
I got my roof redone. It’s a rubber roof (modified bitumen if you’re a roofing snob). Not as exciting as I thought it would be tho. You don’t ever look at the roof. But maybe now I won’t have anxiety dreams that the roof is leaking.
I had to knock out an even bigger hole on my brick wall because I never read the installation instructions on my microwave oven. The exhaust hood needs a 6 inch wide pipe. Duh. RTFM.
Bryan has been doing an excellent job on the brick in my house. He had so much fun repointing the brick at his place he decided to do a little work-in-trade for me. He’s carved out all the old broken bits and it now laying new bricks in place. Well, old bricks to make a new wall that is. See new brick, like new lumber, isn’t the same size as the old stuff. We had to go digging in a construction site dump to find old bricks that would fit. I’m still a little soar from carrying buckets of bricks back to my house.
Camillo has been helping me find resources and contractors. He gave me a good lead on National Lumber who can order a custom door in only a few days and have it delivered at no extra charge. My new door should be here Saturday!
He also got some great electricians to come by to help out. They’re in the process of putting a big old disconnect switch in the laundry room so my house will be up to code and not burn down. They’re also properly grounding everything electric to everything metal (hot and cold water, gas and cast iron pipes) and installed an 8 foot ground rod in my back yard. This stuff should also help keep my house from burning to the ground.
The electrician also took a look at my broken track light and said the switch was wired up right after all. He pointed me in the direction of an electrical supply place in town and I bought a new transformer for my crappy Ikea light. I wired it up tonight and it’s working perfectly again! That’s the nice thing about living in the city. There’s a lot of specialty places that sell a bunch of crap you can’t find anywhere else. You just have to know where to look.

Looking good! I can't wait to see how the door looks. We've been doing more yard work as of late. We are also getting our screen porch re-roofed tonight.
I'll try to take some pics and update our blog.

It's because of your numerous pictures that I now take pics of my own "works in progress". I guess you're an inspiration...or i'm just a copycat!
With the pics I do feel progress being made, and it kinda pushes me to finish the job.

Wow - You are really doing a lot to your space. I'm not doing as much myself and I still find it immensely frustrating. Good luck.
